In July 2017, Olympus Academy Professional Education Manager Laurie Mallia represented Olympus at a Friends of Fiji Mission in Labasa, Fiji.
Laurie provided in-servicing for doctors, nurses, technicians, cleaning sterilisation staff and biomedical engineers on topics such as usage, care and the troubleshooting of Olympus equipment as well as supporting live laparoscopic gynaecology cases.
Laurie was also on hand to install a refurbished Full High Definition monitor, a fleet of second-hand surgical telescopes, a CO2 holder, a brand-new surgical insufflation device as well as new light guide cables, helping to assist the expansion of surgical skills within the region.
